The brief

Analyst view
  • Journey 6 powers 100+ vehicle models from 20+ Chinese automakers and Volkswagen Group.
  • HSD mass production November 2025, one-stage neural network, three sensor configs.
  • Hong Kong-listed October 2024, $696M IPO. CARIZON JV with Volkswagen for Europe.

Technical approach

As reported
Chips

Journey processor family

Custom processors for autonomous workloads. Journey 6 series: 6M, 6P, 6E with 400-560 TOPS each. Variants target different vehicle segments.

Software

One-stage end-to-end system

Single neural network maps sensor inputs to driving commands (vs separate detection/tracking/planning modules). Reduces latency and improves edge-case handling.

Sensors

Three configurations

HSD 300: 11 cameras + 1 radar (optional LiDAR); HSD 600: 11 cameras + 3 radars (optional LiDAR); HSD 1200: full suite. OEMs choose cost/performance trade-off.

Scale

Multi-OEM deployment

Supplies Chinese automakers (BYD, Geely, Li Auto, iCAR, Changan) and Volkswagen Group via CARIZON JV. Targeting billions of units annually.
