The brief
- ANYmal inspects industrial sites, power plants and mines. Four legs handle uneven terrain better than wheels.
- ANYmal X is the first explosion-certified (ATEX Ex) legged robot, launching 2026 for hazardous zones.
- 200+ units deployed globally across 40+ countries; $127M+ raised to date.
Technical approach
Terrain adaptation and stability
Quadruped design with articulated legs navigates stairs, rocks, rubble and other obstacles that defeat wheels.
Sensor and tool integration
ANYmal carries different sensor suites: thermal cameras, gas detectors, radiation meters and inspection arms.
GPS-denied operation
Uses visual odometry and SLAM for mapping and navigation in GPS-denied industrial and underground environments.
Explosion-proof ANYmal X
ATEX certification allows operation in gas and dust hazard zones where robots have not previously been certified.
