Physics limits

Weight of 13-motor architectureRedundancy requires 13 motors and 13 propellers. Total weight and complexity are higher than designs with fewer, larger motors, reducing payload or range.
Range-payload tradeoff250 km range with one pilot and four passengers is achievable. Increasing payload requires larger battery, reducing range. Increasing range requires reducing payload.
Acoustic signature from hover propellers65 dBA hover noise is lower than helicopters but may exceed some urban operating restrictions. Reducing propeller noise further requires higher disk loading or larger rotors.

Hover phase

Ten vertical-only rotors

Ten electric motors drive rotors for takeoff and landing, providing redundancy so failure of a single motor does not cause catastrophic loss of control.

Transition

Wing engagement and speed buildup

As the aircraft accelerates forward, a fixed wing gradually takes weight from the hover rotors, reducing power demand by orders of magnitude.

Cruise

Three pusher propellers for forward flight

Three rear electric motors push the aircraft forward while the wing carries the load. This phase uses a small fraction of hover power.

Charging

CCS connector for fast charging

Standard automotive CCS charging connector enables deployment at existing infrastructure or on-site chargers between flights.
