Current obstacles

Physics limits

Grid capacity constraints400 kW fast chargers draw enormous peak power. Local grids may need upgrades; multi-site installations can hit voltage drop and substation limits.
Battery thermal limitsEven the fastest EV batteries can only accept 400 kW for a few minutes before thermal cutoff. Gains beyond this require cell chemistry innovation, not charger power.
