Infrared signal scattering in weatherInfrared light reflects off rain droplets and fog particles, reducing effective range to 30–50 meters in heavy rain versus 100+ meters in clear air.
Field of view trade-offSolid-state arrays pack photons into a smaller form factor but have narrower fields of view than rotating scanners, requiring multiple units for 360-degree perception.

Solid-state design

No moving parts

Unlike rotating lidar scanners, EM/MX sensors use fixed photonic arrays to emit and detect infrared light, eliminating mechanical failure modes.

Integration

Drop-in replacement for legacy sensors

The sensors install into existing vehicle sensor fusion pipelines, working alongside cameras and radar to build a 3D perception model.

From specialty to commodity
