Zipline unveils Platform 2 with a tethered delivery droid

Zipline/Platform 2 (P2)

Zipline unveiled its P2 Zip, which pairs lift and cruise propellers with a fixed wing, hovers above a home and lowers a small fully autonomous delivery droid on a tether instead of parachuting packages. P2 docks and recharges on its own and can travel about ten miles in ten minutes.

• Delivery droid is about microwave-oven size, autonomously guides itself to precise drop-off location
• Each P2 Zip carries 6–8 pounds of goods, can fly up to 24 miles from dock to dock
• Droid features propellers to hover and remain stable even in wind or rain conditions
• P2 completes deliveries seven times faster than ground vehicles; Rwanda establishing nationwide P2 delivery network
