NASA cancels VIPER rover; Griffin Mission One reconfigured with FLIP rover

Astrobotic/Griffin Mission One

NASA cancelled its VIPER rover program due to cost growth and schedule delays. Astrobotic's Griffin mission, originally scheduled to deliver VIPER to the south pole, was reconfigured to carry Astrolab's FLIP rover (500 kg solar platform with 30 kg payload capacity) and other scientific instruments from NASA, ESA and international partners. Mission retained CLPS task order and south-pole target.
