Large tailless three-engine jet, later dubbed J-36, is seen flying over Chengdu

Photos and videos showed a large tailless combat jet with a diamond-shaped wing flying over Chengdu, built by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation. It has three engines, each with its own air intake, a layout not seen on a fighter before. Analysts read its size and shape as suited to long-range, stealthy strike.

• Tailless double-delta wing for stealth from all angles.
• Three engines: intakes on both sides plus one on top.
• Length estimated at 22–26 m, wingspan about 20 m.
