Jovistar, a suspected DJI front company, gives up its FCC approval for a drone
The FCC logged the dismissal of two Jovistar equipment grants on October 8, 2026, after the company asked its certification body to withdraw them. Jovistar says it never imported or sold the drone and gives no reason for the withdrawal. DroneXL flagged the company in 2025 as a suspected DJI front based on a radio-signal match; the link is not confirmed.
- TÜV Rheinland of North America approved the drone and its controller in September 2025; the company's withdrawal letter is dated September 24, 2026.
- DroneXL notes that under FCC rules a certification body can set aside a grant at the applicant's request only within 30 days, and the public file does not show which authority acted.
- The drone was approved three months before the FCC added foreign-made drones to its Covered List; Jovistar was not among the companies named in the FCC's July 2026 actions.
- No public enforcement action forced the withdrawal, and the company says the drone was never sold.
