GSK signs on to Chai Discovery's AI protein models after lab tests of its designs
GSK has signed up for access to Chai Discovery's protein folding and design models after testing Chai's designs in its own wet lab. GSK reported strong binding affinities across a panel of targets, and Chai says its designs for those targets were made without target-specific training.
- GSK says Chai's technology complements its internal models, which GSK retrains on its own wet-lab data.
- Chai's latest model, Chai-3, is described by the company as achieving high success rates on challenging targets.
- Not disclosed: the targets, number of designs, binding values, deal value, duration and milestone payments.
- The evaluation is preclinical, so it does not show that any candidate medicine will succeed in clinical trials.
