Cochlear Ltd formed to commercialize Dr. Graeme Clark's cochlear implant research
Cochlear Ltd was formed in 1981 as a subsidiary of Nucleus with funding from the Australian government to commercialize cochlear implant research pioneered by Dr. Graeme Clark at the University of Melbourne. The partnership brought together Clark's research, Nucleus's business expertise, and government support to develop the first commercial multi-channel cochlear implant.
