CNH to resume limited trials of the former advanced.farm apple harvester at WSU's Roza orchard

CNH Industrial (Case IH / New Holland, Raven)Robotic Apple Harvester

At a Washington State University field day near Prosser, researchers showed WA 64 apple trees pruned hard in late September to expose fruit for CNH's robot. CNH, which has retooled parts of the machine since buying it, plans private trials of its changes at the Roza research orchard this fall.

  • WA 64 is WSU's newest apple, sold to growers as Sunflare
  • WSU is evaluating whether it suits robotic harvest; better pruning for robots also speeds up human pickers
  • The trial is not open to the public
