Calysseo switches on the first industrial-scale FeedKind plant in Chongqing, China
CalystaFeedKind (Chongqing plant)
Calysseo, the Adisseo–Calysta joint venture, started up its Chongqing plant, designed to make 20,000 tonnes of FeedKind protein a year in a patented U-loop fermenter. The companies said that once start-up was complete it would be the world's largest single protein fermenter.
- Using 100,000 t of FeedKind could spare 420,000–450,000 t of wild-caught fish, the companies estimate
- Swapping it for plant protein could free up to 535 km² of land and save 9 billion litres of water
- More capacity for Asian markets was planned
