Bridge Neurotech raises $13.5M for non-invasive ultrasound brain-computer interface

Merge LabsUltrasound and molecular BCI

Bridge Neurotech launched its business with $13.5 million in seed funding to build a brain-computer interface using functional ultrasound imaging to read neural activity through the skull, avoiding surgical implantation. The company, founded by Will Biederman (who previously worked on Neuralink's implant design), licensed technology from Butterfly Network and is enrolling volunteer participants in California for initial human testing. Bridge plans to deliver a wearable device, positioning itself as an alternative to invasive implant approaches in the growing neurotech market.

  • $13.5M seed round led by General Catalyst, reMind Capital, Sunflower Capital
  • Functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) reads brain activity without implants or surgery
  • Multi-year technology and hardware agreement with Butterfly Network
  • Human volunteer enrollment underway at California site
  • Wearable form factor planned; competing with Sam Altman-backed Merge Labs in non-invasive BCI market
