Bayer and Pairwise announce five-year collaboration on gene-edited short-stature corn for the Preceon Smart Corn System
Bayer and Pairwise announced a multi-year collaboration to develop short-stature corn via Pairwise's proprietary Fulcrum base editing platform. The partnership builds on Bayer's existing Preceon Smart Corn System, which uses conventional breeding and BASF partnership to deliver short-stature varieties targeting 2027 launch in the US. The gene-editing route will accelerate trait development and enable additional innovations beyond height reduction.
