Anthropic and Google agree expansion to up to one million TPUs

Anthropic said it would expand its use of Google Cloud, including up to one million TPUs, in a deal worth tens of billions expected to bring well over a gigawatt of computing capacity online in 2026. Anthropic cited more than 300,000 business customers as the reason for the added compute.

• Expansions supports Anthropic's multi-platform strategy: Google TPUs, Amazon Trainium, and NVIDIA GPUs remain part of the portfolio.
• Large accounts (>$100K annual revenue) grew nearly sevenfold in the past year, driving increased capacity needs.
• Added resources support more extensive testing, alignment research, and responsible deployment at scale.
