Abbott initiates TRANSCEND trial to evaluate DBS for treatment-resistant depression

Abbott initiated the TRANSCEND multi-center, double-blind clinical trial to evaluate DBS for treatment-resistant depression. The study enrolled 100 participants aged 22–70 who had failed at least four antidepressant treatments and will run at up to 25 centers. FDA granted Breakthrough Device designation.
