Physics limits

Fiber preparation

Carbon fiber woven in layers

Fiber woven or laid for directional strength; unidirectional (UD) for maximum strength.

Resin impregnation

Resin saturates fiber uniformly

Epoxy or bismaleimide matrix applied at controlled fiber-volume ratio.

Staging and manufacturing

Prepreg frozen, then heated to cure

Prepreg stored frozen to slow curing; designers arrange layers then heat to harden.

Fast-cure advantage

Minutes not hours of cycle time

CYCOM fast-cure reaches strength in <10 min vs 30-120 min autoclaves.
