The brief
- Phoenix Wings had opened 600+ drone routes by end-2024, carrying 6.6M+ items (nearly 3,300 t) over ~5.8M km.
- By June 2026 it had 1,100+ routes in the Greater Bay Area alone, with ~1M flights and 12.8M+ parcels delivered there.
- Its 120 kg ARK80 won a CAAC type certificate in Dec 2025, a step toward larger intercity cargo drones.
Technical approach
Drones sized for each leg
Small multirotors cover last-mile hops of up to 20 km; larger drones link cities and islands 60-70 km apart.
Builds its drones in-house
Phoenix Wings designs the ARK family itself, from the 10 kg-payload Ark 40 to the certified 120 kg ARK80.
Plugs into the courier network
Drones hand parcels to SF's existing sorting sites and couriers, so they replace slow road legs rather than whole deliveries.
