The drone flies autonomously to the delivery address following a planned route, communicating with air traffic systems and weather avoidance software.
Rather than landing, the drone hovers above the destination and lowers the package on a tether, keeping rotors away from people and avoiding damage to yards.
At docking stations, the drone automatically swaps its battery, receives a new package and is ready for the next delivery in under 60 seconds.
