Technical approach
Vehicle
Designed around autonomy
It is symmetrical and drives equally well both ways with four-wheel steering, so it never needs to reverse or do three-point turns.
Sensors
Corner sensor pods
Lidar, radar, cameras and heat cameras on all four corners overlap to see all around, with no blind spots near the car.
Safety
Occupant protection without a driver
Airbags and seats are designed for passengers facing each other, since there is no driver seat.

Open technical problems
- Regulation for vehicles without controlsPartially solved
US safety rules assume a driver; Zoox relies on exemptions that are limited in number and time.
- Custom vehicle manufacturingOpen
