# Stacks sets sBTC rollout: deposits from Dec 17 with a 1,000 BTC cap, withdrawals in early 2025

After testnet finished on Nov 22, the sBTC team set a phased mainnet launch. Phase 1 opens BTC deposits with a 1,000 BTC cap under 15 institutional signers; phase 2 adds withdrawals and a bigger cap; phase 3 opens the signer set toward permissionless membership.

- Initial signers included Blockdaemon, Chorus One, Kiln, Luganodes, Xverse and Asymmetric Research.
- Withdrawals were estimated for March 2025; they went live on April 30, 2025.
- sBTC is backed 1:1 by BTC and meant for lending, yield and trading apps.
