Citing Seoul Economic Daily, the report says Samsung has begun making 2 nm wafers at Taylor and some lines have entered the AI5 prototype stage while it verifies yields. Samsung aims to finish final mass-production verification by the end of 2026, with full-scale supply in 2027, so chips are not yet close to shipping.

## Key facts

- Musk said AI5 will go first into Optimus and Tesla's data centres, and into cars later.
- On the Q1 2026 call Musk said AI4 has enough compute for unsupervised driving, easing the rush to AI5 in cars.
- Tesla is reportedly a key reason Samsung brought Taylor online early.
