At the American Meteorological Society's annual meeting, NVIDIA released Earth-2 as an open family of pretrained weather models, frameworks and inference libraries covering the whole forecast chain. Medium Range (Atlas) forecasts 70+ variables up to 15 days ahead; Nowcasting (StormScope) predicts kilometre-scale storms 0–6 hours ahead. A data-assimilation model, HealDA, was announced for later in 2026.

## Key facts

- NVIDIA says Atlas outperforms leading open models on the most commonly measured variables.
- StormScope is claimed to beat physics-based models on short-term precipitation and predicts satellite and radar images directly.
- Brightband runs Medium Range operationally; the Israel Meteorological Service runs CorrDiff at 2.5 km.
- The Weather Company and the US National Weather Service are evaluating the models; TotalEnergies and Eni are testing them.
- Models are available through Earth2Studio, Hugging Face and GitHub.
