# Musk restarts Dojo 3, now aimed at space-based AI compute rather than training on Earth

Five months after shutting Dojo down, Musk said Tesla would restart work on Dojo 3 because the AI5 design was "in good shape". Unlike the old Dojo it is not meant to train self-driving models; Musk wrote that "AI7/Dojo3 will be for space-based AI compute", a moonshot tied to plans for compute satellites.
