# Hexcel launches HexTow IM9 24K, a larger-tow carbon fibre 12% stronger than its IM7 baseline

Hexcel introduced HexTow IM9 24K, an intermediate-modulus carbon fibre with 24,000 filaments per tow, average tensile strength above 6,300 MPa and a 298 GPa modulus. The bigger tow lets part makers lay down material faster, aimed at aircraft primary structures and engine fan blades.
