Boeing pushed the first 777X delivery from 2026 to 2027 and booked a $4.9 billion charge in its third quarter. CEO Kelly Ortberg blamed the certification process rather than newly found technical problems. It is the latest of several slips for a jet once due in service around 2020.

## Key facts

- First delivery moved from 2026 to 2027; $4.9B charge in the quarter to September 2025
- Ortberg: the delay comes from certification, not new technical issues
- Qatar Airways is waiting on 124 777X jets; Emirates had ordered 205
- Boeing calls it the world's largest and most efficient twin-engine jet
