# Quantum Machines

Canonical page: https://technooptimist.io/companies/quantum-machines
Quantum Machines builds the control electronics that send pulses to qubits and read them out in real time. The Tel Aviv company, founded in 2018, says more than half of the world's quantum computing companies use its systems.

## In brief

- Says more than half of the world's quantum computing companies use its control systems; $280M raised.
- OPX1000 (2023) packs 64 outputs and 16 inputs in 3U; linked units aim at 1,000-plus-qubit machines.
- Sept 2026: first control firm to run an NVIDIA CUDA-Q program across live qubits and GPUs over NVQLink.

## Programs

- [OPX1000](https://technooptimist.io/quantum/opx1000.md) (Quantum): Deploy. Shipping to labs and qubit makers; now linked to NVIDIA GPUs through NVQLink.

## Technical approach

- **Pulse processor: A classical computer beside the qubits**: Its Pulse Processing Unit builds pulses and runs logic in real time, so a measurement can change the next pulse within the same run.
- **QUA: A programming language for pulses**: Experiments are written in QUA at pulse level, or as gates through an OpenQASM 3 compiler, for any qubit type.
- **GPU link: Qubits wired to supercomputers**: NVIDIA's NVQLink ties the controller to GPUs and CPUs; a full qubit-to-processor round trip took about a microsecond in a 2026 demo.

## Open problems

- **Control for millions of qubits** (active research): Room-temperature racks need lines into the fridge for each channel; fault-tolerant machines will need far denser and cheaper control per qubit.
- **Microsecond feedback at scale** (active research): Error correction must read, decode and react within about a microsecond every round, for every logical qubit, as machines grow.
