Miami company, founded in 2009 by Alon Mozes and Juan Salcedo, that makes Yomi, the first FDA-cleared robot for dental implant surgery. Backed by Intuitive Ventures, NVIDIA's NVentures, Norwest and others.

## In brief

- Yomi is the first and only FDA-cleared robot for dental implant surgery (2016); cleared for full-arch cases in 2020.
- Over 100,000 robot-guided implant drillings by January 2026.
- Yomi S (Nov 2025) adds AI planning that maps nerves and sinuses from the patient's 3D scan.

## Facts

- Founded: 2009
- Headquarters: US
- Status: private
- Raised: $20M

- Frontiers: [Robotics](https://technooptimist.io/robotics.md) (Joint & spine surgery)

## Programs

- [Yomi](https://technooptimist.io/robotics/yomi.md) (Robotics): Deploy; next: Yomi S roll-out to practices (2026). 100,000+ robot-guided osteotomies; second-generation Yomi S cleared and in first clinical use.

## Technical approach

- **Haptic guidance: The dentist drills, the robot constrains**: The drill is guided by a robot arm that physically limits its position, angle and depth to the digital plan, while the dentist stays in control.
- **Planning: Implants planned on a 3D scan**: Each implant is placed on the patient's cone-beam CT scan before surgery; the plan can be changed mid-case and guidance updates instantly.
- **AI: Automatic anatomy mapping**: YomiPlan AI segments nerves and sinuses from the scan, the structures a misplaced drill could damage.

## Open problems

- **Reaching general dentists** (active research): Yomi S was redesigned for one-clinician use; the robot still has to pay off in an ordinary practice, not only specialist clinics.

## Latest updates

- **7 Jan 2026**: Neocis passes 100,000 robot-guided osteotomies with Yomi; first Yomi S cases done. Clinicians have completed more than 100,000 osteotomies (the bone holes drilled for implants) with Yomi, across single-tooth to full-arch cases. - **17 Nov 2025**: Neocis unveils Yomi S, a smaller FDA-cleared dental robot with AI planning. Neocis launched Yomi S, its second-generation robot, together with the YomiPlan AI planning suite, both FDA-cleared.
